The Arctic Oasis portrays the four month, scientific expedition entitled NOW (North Open Water), where hundreds of researchers analysed the "polynies" of the Great North, on board the Canadian ice-breaker, Pierre-Radisson.
The "polynies" or Oasis of the North are complex, ecosystems where the fauna and flora are continually flourishing and replenishing. Due to the ever-oppressing concerns of global warming, we foresee an increase of the ''polynies''. The result: the biomass equilibrium is at great risk.
For 4 months, in extreme conditions of the northern climate, male and female scientists from six different countries meticulously scrutinized and sampled particles of ice water, fauna, flora and various ecosystems.
Arctic Oasis brings to light the numerous questions pertaining to the preservation of the Arctic and the future of our planet.
