West Scotland from the Sky

Description

Their names are Benbecula, Lewis, Harris, Barra... they are the islands of the Outer Hebrides and they lie to the northwest of Scotland. Any further to the west, beyond the Atlantic, and you are in America.

Apart from the craggy mountains and magnificent lochs, the Hebrides has outstanding beaches of fine, white sand that go on forever. Despite their crystal blue waters most of these islands are deserted or very nearly so. The population density in the Hebrides is one of the lowest in Europe, however new residents are moving into the windy archipelago. Far from being a disadvantage, could tranquility and remoteness prove an asset for the Hebrides?
